A lonely field base misses its venturers.......

Hi all. Sorry for the lack of blog. Unfortunately, I had to fulfill medical duties taking me away from field base for the last few days. However, I hope I have made a small amends with todays content. There are photos of the venturers early morning departure, an alpha group update and some project summaries of the last phase. Enjoy!

Tried phoning you back at the number you gave but it wouldn't take incoming international calls. Brilliant having the wee chat. We're all of a twitter LOL.
Lots of love from DL, ML and Toodles

It has been a while since we heard your news. Hope all is well with Alpha 2....... heard you had some setbacks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope nothing serious, how are the feet???
We miss you so, so, so,so much. You won't believe it but Moody can't wait to have you back home. He is finding it very boring without you.
I have been writing comments on the blog, i don't know if it reached you.
As for fafa, she's always asking if we got any news from you. Telling me off for not finding out if you are ok or not.
I do hope you are enjoying you trek. Wish we could have some pictures. Auntie Munya got back from south Africa. She sends her love.
I went to Bisecter with Auntie May, Suzane and Tala today. We should go there when you get back. Can't wait...........
I hear you walked 20km yesterday, your legs must be aching!!!!! We are extremely proud of you. This trek will make a macho girl out of you. Two more weeks to go. Counting the seconds.
Hayati look after yourself.
Alpha 2 ...... you are the best. Go, Go, Go.

hello lovely! I haven't written in an AGE and this is very sad for me. I've been away for the weekend - my oh my! well, home. exotic, eh? you're TREKKING. this is MOST EXCITING. you will be properly outdoorsy by the end of it. indeed! you will be picking up spiders whilst olivia and I squeal. how things will be reversed! not that you squeal. of course not. i miss you SO SO SO much and cannot wait to see you in a few weeks time! can you believe it? does it feel like ages or not long? actually, you can't really answer that, can you? what with being on a trek and all. anyways, it feels like IN FOREVER that i haven't seen you, and this SADDENS ME GREATLY. greatly.
love you lots and lots and then some more

Hola, Tom W Alpha 3.
Your letter arrived yesterday - great to get such a long and chatty letter, we have all read and re-read it. Sounds like you really enjoyed your time with the Alpha 5 group in the forest, and it was good to hear your stories that went with some of the photos we'd seen (like the Tang Bar) on the blog. Loved the collapsing hammock story - seems the harem reached critical mass!
All well here, and spring has officially arrived. The birding excitement (?) is that a couple of moorhens have taken up residence in the garden. Dad is under sedation after this excitement.
The rugby is over, the Irish are triumphant; Ger went to watch the game in Cardiff, but seems to be taking the disappointment well.
Hope the trek is proceeding well, with a spring in your step, few mozzies and no blisters.
Keep going! We are very proud of you. Lots of love from Mum, Warg and Josie xxxx

Query for Tom W, Alpha 3, somewhere between the Carribbean and the Pacific....
Tom, Camp America is asking for a visa application fee, but I thought this had already been paid. If it's possible for you to get a message back via the blog (a few people have used this method for urgent, short messages) please let me know if this still needs payment so I can sort it out. Mum xxx

To Amy Tee (Alpha 5)!

Just got the wee tiny parcel in the post -HOW exciting!! Thank-you! Don't worry I won't open it til my birthday! Sounds like you're having a slightly more relaxing time on your final phase compared to the trekking anyway?! Have you used your Spanish much??

Hope that you are surviving - heard that you did a 20km trek the other day, hope your feet are holding up.
After this trek, town to dockyared will seem like a breeze. Amber and daddy got back tonight from UK. Amber says that she misses you and is looking forward to having you home. Just 15 days left to go . Daddy had a good time - in Uk, he went flying and skeet shooting all near Ambers school.
We miss you desperately and are looking forward to having you home
will keep in touch - lots of slobbery kisses and hugs
mummy, kruggy, daddy and amber

Hi Helena and everyone at Fieldbase, this is rather a belated Thank You for all that you did in helping Tom when he was back with you. You were fantastic and made everything much easier for us back here, we really appreciate all your help and care. Also to Andy and everyone in London for keeping us up to date.
We are very impressed with Raleigh and all that you do.
From a very grateful Mum THANK YOU!

Dear Tom W, we are looking forward with great excitement to seeing you and to hear the first hand account of all this marvellous experience. We hope you have taken a million photos so we can relive it all with you. Now what is all this about a damaged ankle?. Poneteland Mission report that the ankle with the steel pins after the rugby accident is giving some trouble and that you are going to have to miss a part of the final ocean-to-ocean super duper mountain and jungle and snakes and crocodiles trek. We enjoyed reading the great adventures in your blog for the first week of the expedition. Those experiences should be enough for any normal person anyway. We are hoping that you'll get the chance to rejoin the Group after your surgery in the jungle A&E. We understand that you are now in the logistics team getting supplies to the forward troops. Perhaps you'll be fit enough to stay with them for the last stages. Love from Nana and Grandad Mannix
