Today is a great day at Raleigh Fieldbase, all of our teams are on their way home, we successfully celebrated World Social Justice Day (hopefully you have seen our video click here to view if you havn't had time yet >) but today we also welcomed 14 new volunteer Venturers to Expedition 13A. They have had a big couple of days with training, trekking and learning all about Raleigh and their upcoming projects. So here they are:
Alice (PM), Stella, Chow, Izzy, Amy, Hebie, Anthony, Freddie, John, Amelia, Gabby (PM), Eva, Ella, Jess, Kate and Akalia
It's changeover so lots of updates to come of our returning Volunteers and all of their exploits.
Pura Vida!

And then there were more
Expedition 12L comes in two flavours - a 10 week and a 7 week option. The 10 week venturers, who arrived a few weeks ago are now coming to the end of phase one and will soon be joined by explorers who are here for the 7 week option. The explorers will choose to do 2 project phases (Community, Environmental or Trek) rather than all 3.
So the new 12L explorers arrived in San Jose last night and made their way to Fieldbase this morning. Welcomed, as usual, by a breakfast of rice and beans (Gallo Pinto) and the Fieldbase crew. This morning will be busy with admin, money exchange, swim assessments etc, and then this afternoon it's straight off to jungle camp to learn the joys of building a basha bed and cooking on a trangia (for newcomers please see the Raleigh Lingo on the right hand sidebar, and don't worry you'll get the hang of all this new vocabulary very soon).
So as we bring 7 new explorers into the Raleigh fold, the adventure continues...

Welcome Explorers
Fresh-faced and with a spring in their step, our Explorers have arrived at Turrialba HQ, meaning our roster is now complete for what will be a bumper filled Phase Two of Raleigh Expedition 12B.
In typical Tico style, a gallo pinto breakfast was served and in a matter of hours, they’ll be trekking around the sultry surrounds of Turrialba’s countryside, and getting to grips with tents, trangias and toilets of the short drop variety.
