Hello Zero this is Alpha 2

The group are doing well and following the morning warm up each day are knocking off the miles despite some very hot temperatures. The group did especially well on day 6 when we trekked nearly 28k from El Zaporte to Lourdes. We were greeted by the locals when we arrived and despite having just walked 28k a few of the group still had enough energy to take part in a game of baseball on the street!! The locals we have met so far on the trek have been one of the many highlights, their generosity and friendliness continues to amaze!

Setting up camp for the night
The morning warm up - spelling names with their hips!

A well earned lunch stop

The last few days have been very hot, but the clear skies have meant the group have had some brilliant views of the Maribios chain of volcanoes including Volcan San Cristobal and Volcan Casita (which some of the group walked up Saturday). It is something special to see Volcan San Cristobal growing in size on the horizon as you gradually get closer and closer. The flatter land in the last few days, which lends itself to farming, has also meant we have been able to enjoy some more locally produced fruit and vegetables to supplement our meals. The fruit Salad eaten for desert after the long 28k day was just what was needed!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Jane and Charlie taking a break

Tim continues to attract interest from locals with his surfer shirt and purple and with white trim umberella!
Volcan San Cristobal is getting closer!

In other news, the group are currently busy planning the presents they are going to make for each other in the Maribios Trek Secret Santa which will take place on the last day of the Trek!! (Each person has drawn a name out of a hat and has until the end of the trek to make a present for that person from natural resources found on route). The team are also thinking hard about what they are going to do for the end of phase skit! The pressure is on in order to try and retain the End of Phase Skit Title won by Alpha 2 i in the last phase.
