Venturers Arrive

Last night we celebrated the arrival of the host country venturers with a ready steady cook style cooking contest. With only a trangia and basic food supplies from the storeroom, the teams were challenged to create a starter, main course and desert. The brave judges sampled delicious dishes including chicken and bean juice cocktail and chocolate flavoured mashed potato and judges the groups on presentation, flavour and creativity.

This morning saw the long awaited arrival of the rest of the venturers and 09L got off to a brilliant start. The venturers were cheered off the bus and treated to a typical Costa Rican breakfast of rice and beans (called Gallo pinto). They were then split into groups and played a variety of games and icebreakers to get to know each other. After that it was ddown to the local pool for a swim test and admin round robin in the lovely sunshine. It is great to have everybody here and we are sure that 09L will be a fantastic expedition!
