The beats were pumping and all kinds of shapes were being thrown around the dance floor last night as the Delta's enjoyed a proper send off at our 4th July party. Red, white and blue was the theme, along with an ‘American’ fancy dress… quite a broad theme I’ll admit but it seemed to go down well nonetheless. After a delicious BBQ (courtesy of cook Sandra and handy-man and living legend Don Martin) and an inspiring slideshow of the last few days, it wasn’t long before the party kicked off.
The groups were up from 3.30am this morning to finish off a few final preparations and some last minute packing before they loaded up the buses and set off on their adventures just as the sun began to rise. We will hopefully be getting updates from these groups soon enough, so keep an eye out.
So, the Deltas departed and it was a quick clean up and turnaround at fieldbase before the Alphas arrived back from their Jungle camps soon after. True to the jungle camp form there were a mixture of feelings upon return, however we’re happy to say that these were all good (mostly good…) and the Alpha's are now pumped, motivated and ready for action – woo, let's go!!

ReplyDeletehey belz hope everythings going well the pictures look great loving the facepaint. Missing you lotsss was at pizza express just now actually (imagine the taste of that when you're back). Had such a good night last night with Hannah it was so weird all our teachers were at the bar we were at having a leaving party + bought us drinks and stuff I felt so grown up and THEN even better there was loads of tables full of fit rugby player looking guys who turned out to be the whole Eng rugby team and THEN Jonny Wilkenson walked in it was so cool and THEN we went to Oceana and some of them were there in the vip section and me and Hana got invited in and jammed with them all night..was surreeeal! Other than that not much has happened and I wish you were herrrre/hope you're having an amazing time I miss you so muchh + look forward to more piccies! ReplyDeleteIt's been almost a week since we left London! (I wonder whether it seems less time or much more, for you?)
I spent almost 4 hrs this morning delivering Political Savvy to a small group of senior decision-makers, partly from Harvard University administration and partly from Commonwealth of MA (state govt). I think it went okay, but of course the proof is in the pudding, so--now I wait to see if any of them purchase this for their organisation. This afternoon, I drove back down to the Cape, which--on a Friday in the summer--took almost as long as this morning's workshop! I'm not getting much time on the Cape this summer but: wait for it--enough to have set up wifi! On the Cape??!?! It wasn't easy (I reckon your grandpa's spirit was doing all it could to stave this off...)but I am actually sending this from the dining room table as I look out the window over Gull Pond!
Got attacked by mosquitos, here, last weekend--perhaps they were attracted by the smell of lobster? (Amy brought it. What a love.) I sure hope you're surviving the insects out there...
I hope, too, that you are finding time for your journal, and that you'll let me read at least some of it, when you get back. Big hug! love, Ma
