Its half way through phase 3 and Alpha 3 have made a hotel in the middle of the jungle! They started with just a muddy, bare area of the jungle next to a river and now they have a dining area, kitchen, shower, toilet and beds! As well as making their own jungle hotel Alpha 3 have been very busy helping the La Cangreja national park rangers building a trail through the park. The group were also lucky enough to be able to help out on during National park day when the Costa Rican environment minister visited the park.
Will was keen to show off what Alpha 3 have achieved -
Will in the dinning area. Henry can often be found here serving up some delicious meals, the latest was banoffee pie!

Will checking up on Jake using the tree shower.

Patrick enjoying some time out

The jungle bedroom - a combination of basher beds and hammocks.

Jonny using some bamboo to reinforce his basher bed

The jungle camp - on the left is the kitchen and the right is the dinning area and beds

The groups camp is next to a river where they can swim and wash their clothes.

A very happy Alpha 3, Henry is in his suit for National Park day!

Hi Shaney Boy!! Nice hair! Great to get an update. All is good here; France was great fun and very relaxing, studying for FE1s now, possibly heading to EP tomorrow, I will go to Florence just for you and report back!!The 'little ones' are back at school and are getting on well. Everyone says hi...Love O
ReplyDeleteAlex! The Alpha 3 Hilton! Great digs! No more worrying whether you're warm and dry. But I bet a hot bath, a soft bed, and a bidet are loooking pretty good! Not too much longer. Can't believe your adventure is almost over but can't wait to hear all about it.
ReplyDeleteFrom 'The Book':"The Scot...makes a great parade of his repectibility and takes a genuine pride in it, just as a savage takes a great pride in his store clothes, but there is always the secret hankering for the loin-cloth and feathers, and sometimes it has its way" (Donald Carswell, 1927). Ah Hah! NOW I know why you did this!
Diana
P.S. LOVE the blue tarps! They match your eyes!
Hi Will A -
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you alive and well in the jungle camp - judging by the awnings I assume there's been some rain? Hopefully you're now on the beach for a little while before your final few days at fieldbase.
Granny's back in J'burg after a few eeks in C'town, and all well. CB's off to marseilles with a group of froiends from StA. Noods started school aghh!
US Open at Flushing Meadow is underway. Federer and Nadal getting by on their B games, along with Murray, as you'd expect getting through to quarter finals.
We sent you a letter earlier this week. Hope you'll be in contact over the next few days.
Lots + lots of love - Dad x
Hi Jake - still in the jungle? Glad to see you've had at least one shower! Look forward to hearing all about it in less than a week :) much love TC&L
