Delta 3's bush tucker trials

Words: Olivia Christie

After nearly two weeks working in Piedras Blancas national park it seems that Delta 3 have a touch of jungle fever. Nature Valley Bars are now the coveted prize of the Raleigh Bush Tucker Trials, with two members eating a termite and a juicy worm [eurgh!].

So far we have cleared two kilometres of trail, shovelling and pick-axing to our heart's content. Yes, Delta 3 have turned into a lean, mean, jungle machine!

Evenings are spent playing footie with rangers, playing rounders in the rain, and even putting on a fashion show with the notorious socks and sandals! [eurgh!].

Despite mosquito bites and wasp stings galore, Delta 3 are still loving jungle life and working on the trail with their newly made friend Pipito (our mascot made of bamboo).

    Hi Chris
Hope its going well and your enjoying it. Theres not many photos posted of your group but hopefully you will bring some back. We are looking forward to finding out your next task, which I guess will be Friday.
I went to Ping yesterday and sorted things out with Jonny today so will be well up for some golf now. Must say its quiet round here at present, and the fridge is looking healthy, but I'm sure you will sort that out.
    All the best Dad x

HI there. I think that according to the blog you are likely to be at the end of your mountain work tomorrow, so I assume you will all be back at base for a couple of days and then off again. I have been around the country this week again, now (Thursday) back for the weekend. I had a Skype conversation with Bill, Julie and David G all in NZ on Wednesday, which was slighly crazy, as you can imagine. B&J are coming to visit in July probably on their way to Sweden, David G in September on his way to or from Italy, and Lorraine in July on her way to a clog dancing event (whatever next!).

It's Sarah's birthday on Sat so Dad and I will go and take her out for lunch probably on Sunday. It was Wig's birthday today. Too many birthdays!

Looking forward to the next blog picture of you!

    Love Mum XX

  6. To Alex Lingwood, Delta 3.

Hey Alex. Things sound rather interesting out there. Bug eating, fashion shows and footie. Doesn't sound that bad... well the bug eating might be pushing it a bit but it sounds like you're enjoying yourselves, which is good to hear.
And 2 kilometres of cleared trail! That's amazing. I'm really proud of you.
Sent a couple of letters the other day. You're gunna have wuite a few to read when you get back to the main base (hopefully) though I doubt they'll take too long to read.
I miss you baby and I love you loads.

    Well Hello
Lean mean machines you may be but socks & sandals are not the future. The snake in the picture is the only thing i know with a tongue longer than yours. seriously looks like you are having a great time, bush tucker trials are comparible to some family BBQ's I guess (never quite sure what it is, but still lets try it).
Just take care and be good. Time is flying see you soon Love the Naden's x
