Delta Yankee 5 Update – by Jasmine Henry

So Delta Yankee 5 have arrived in Achuapa and settled into our new family homes. Despite the community having so little they have made us feel as welcome as possible – giving up their beds, living space and feeding us with a constant supply of tortillas. We have found ourselves not only living with families but also chickens, pigs, puppies, kittens and baby parrots oh and who can forget the cockerels which seem to exist as am alarm for every hour of the night.

With help from the locals our water project is underway. We dug trenches for the pipes, mixed and laid cement and seen some of our boys emasculated by the villiage locals who laugh at their attempts to carry half empty bags of soil. Whilst we struggle the locals carry about 2 or 3 times the weight.

Having seen how far the families have to walk everyday just to collect water, we can see how important and worthwhile the work we are doing here is.

Hi seun, uiteindelik nuus v julle. Lyk of julle hard werk en lekker eet! Weet jy geniet daai tipe kos baie.
Als goed hier by ons. pap was Dinsdag Bremen toe, gister Brussel toe.
    Praat hopelik binnekort
    baie liefde

    Hi Stephan,
Great to hear more news as well as see the pictures. I really appreciate Jasmine's effort in creating the post - thank you!
Wow - who needs a gymn eh? Good, physical work is all one needs. I'm inspired to head out into my garden and start clearing for vegetable planting. Sounds as though the villagers are amazing hosts too.
Looking forward to seeing you and hearing all about your experiences.
    Love,
    Megan

Hello! it looks like the work you're all doing is amazing, and going to be a real benefit to the community you're living in. It must feel so nice to be helping that much, and repaying the people you are all staying with. How's the spanish going? You must be practising a lot.

I've had a great few days, on Wednesday it snowed loads and I had some of the best riding of the season! Super champaign snow, on the 6th of April! Amazing! Did some awesome tree runs and got some wicked fresh lines on the last morning session I could go on.

The last couple of days have been really sunny and Spring like. I've just been riding park the whole time. I'm definitely getting better at jumps I have been hitting 3s and 5s over the big kickers now. So much fun. That was until this afternoon when I went too slow and blew my knee on the knuckle. It was a super heavy landing and I heard a pop in my knee. I had to download on the gondola because I couldn't ride. I was pretty scared about our trip to South America but having rested all afternoon, it's feeling better. There isn't really any swelling so I don't think there's any major damage, just might miss the last few days of riding. Bum.

    Love you loads, Timma xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Was toe gister ISB toe vir atletiek. Was heats, so mens weet nie so mooi watter groep het die vinnigste gehardloop nie.

HI. Hope you are well and have made lots of water run.

I am in Edinburgh with Mary and Scott. It has been the most amazingly warm few days, just like summer. I climbed up Arthur's Seat on Friday, the mini-mountain in the middle of Edinburgh. That photo of you as a baby under Dad's coat was taken there.

For unknown reasons Mary is also a fan of Neighbours, so I watched it with her and have to say I have no idea what was going on except the same sort of stuff that was happening last time I saw it, but Mary says that I should tell you that Paul's getting the claws in to Rebecca's son (whose silly name she can't remember). Toady's girlfriend is digging a deep hole for herself. I am sure that this will mean something to you, but not to me!

I suppose there is only a week until you finish your project now and get back to your base where I imagine you will all be celebrating and arranging to meet up later.

Hi darling, nearly at the end now! One final push - a bit like giving birth.... hope you are still having a wonderful time and learning lots. Looking forward to hearing all about it. Bet you are looking forward to that holiday you'll be having in a week or so's time. Hope so much that the hands are better and that you have been doing fruitful and helpful things as well as having oodles of fun.

All is well here, wonderful warm spring weather and the garden is looking beautiful. Have been out with my camera taking shots of all the flowers. Walked round Eggardon fort this morning, absolutely stunning as ever.

Hope you are getting on well with your Nicaraguan hosts - what an amazing experience for you. Make the most of every day, looking forward to hearing from you again soon.

Very much love as always, Mum xxxxxxxxx

To Rose Ashbourn, Delta Yankee 5

Another warm sunny day in downtown MK. The dandelion epidemic is with us. Do we weed or ignore?

    Heidi still pining.

Pleased that everything is working out so well for you and your comrades. Are you finding time for your diary?

Half term for the boys - going down on Tuesday to put the second coat of stain on the shed.

    Missing you. Love Dad xxx

    Hi Hannah
Glad you doing well and you are all doing really well helping with the water system.
We are all ok here, Sarah had a great time in Germany and wanting to go back. Is still in touch with Laura whom she stayed with and another girl. Sarah is on holiday now and going to study club at school, taking her to Kinlochewe every morning before work, so Mangy can take her to Gairloch. She is going to the dentist tonight, so going to Kinlochewe after work and then doing the circle.
We are meeting Eilidh in Inverness on Tuesday to see her, as we will now not see her before she goes to the States. Must speak to you at the weekend about your dollars.
Dad and I fine dad busy at work this week culling and I am back at the hotel, things same as ever. Chefs nice and food good.
Look forward to speaking to you at the weekend.
    Lots of Love

    Hello liefie,
dink dis nou regtig tyd dat jy n slag huistoe kom. Nou genoeg gehad v jou wat so ver is. Ek was darem baie geduldig en baie rustig, maar nou wil ek jou n slag by die huis he.
Wens ek kon saam met jou by Kolie kuier.
