Sneak peek at our projects

Our project managers have been gallavanting all over Costa Rica and Nicaragua recently while we've kept the home fires burning here at fieldbase (not to mention becoming experts at taking radio reports 'hello Delta 4, hello Delta 4, this is zero, this is zero, go ahead, over' - oops, I'm getting carried away again).

Anyway, the PMs went off on their jollies, er, I mean worked hard, visiting their project sites and meeting our project partners such as community leaders and park rangers, or walking some of the trek routes with guides. Here's a selection of pictures to whet your appetite:

Alpha 1 Corcovado Trek, Costa Rica - PMs Roberto and Sabrina
(lots of hard trekking was endured inbetween these two shots, apparently).

Alpha 2 Guanacaste Trek, Costa Rica - PMs Jonny and Wellard
(that last shot is of their short drop, aka, the toilet).

Alpha 3 Cabo Blanco national park, Costa Rica - PMs Christine and Asia

Alpha 4 La Cangreja national park, Costa Rica - PMs Phil and Mel

Alpha 5 Quebrada Honda gravity-feed water system, Nicaragua - PMs Chris, Mo and Amy

Alpha 6 La Colmena community centre build, Nicaragua - Ben and Vicky

Delta 1 Turrimacho Trek, Costa Rica - PMs Lorna, Chos and Jo Jo

Delta 3 Piedras Blancas national park, Costa Rica - PMs Andy and Adriana

Delta 4 Chirripo national park, Costa Rica - PMs Ben and Karla
Delta 5 Cosiguina gravity-feed water system, Nicaragua - Sheila, Lara and Catherine

Delta 6 El Cebollal, home building, Nicaragua - Ali, Natasha and Bernardo

For Jessica Bridge Dunk. Hello. Was waiting until I had some exciting news and it does not get more exciting than this - your cousins are going to be in the August copy of the RSPB children's magazine with a photo of their washing up bowl pond! There - that was worth waiting for. Other big news is that it was so warm I had my birkenstocks on today - in March - can you believe it! Had even got fake tanned legs ready! Very impressive. Other people were wearing winter boots and coats I noticed but once that sun was out I was ready!!! No doubt there will be a frost tonight and it will be back to the woolly tights! ( What do you think of a birkenstock with a woolly tight?) Hope things there are going well. I cant believe how long you have been there already. Bet you don't need the fake tan! Meant to be ironing so best get back to it but just wanted to let you know all the exciting news here and send our love. Aunt J x x x

    Lorna,
YOUR SECRET IDENTITY IS REVEALED... you ARE the Terminator! Nothing will stop her!! Leaps dense jungle with a single bound! Drinks raging torrents! Laughs at man-eating snakes (hey, she's a gal!) You are an inspiration to all of chained to various desks back home. Go girl!!!!
    Love,
    Rodney

  12. Lorna Fossick - Delta 1 PM now who knows where!
    Hey Lorna,
Only one day to go, then I'll escape the institutionalised madness that is... 10 Mile Menu!!!! I'm off on a break too - only Northern Scotland, but beautiful, even if it isn't a patch on the splendours of Costa Rrrriccca!
Send out another email soon - we don't know what you're up to.
    Lots of love,
    Rodney
    xx
