Bravo 1 have returned from their road trip with photos of their visits to Zulus 3 and 6. Zulu 3 are camping at Rincon Lodge with Bravo 4, who left fieldbase this morning to meet them. The teams will climb volcano, Rincon de la vieja tomorrow.
Zulu 6 went on a tour of Leon today that included a cultural experience of a religious festival. Bravo 1 spent a night with them in Achuapa last Friday in time to join in on an evening of cultural activities. The venturers are reportedly having a whale of time, working and playing under the sunny Nicaraguan skies.

ReplyDeleteJust been looking at your photos on the blog - awesome! It's now just 9 days til you're home - yippeeeeeee! Most normal people of Winchester have been pounding the streets in search of that special little something to buy for their loved ones at Chrismas....aahhhhhh! Your mother meanwhile has been pounding the streets to stock up on antiseptic wipes, anti-bacterial hand gel, anti-malarial medication, deet, face wipes, bum wipes, bum paper and anything else to keep every possible strain of bacteria at bay - in fact I've probably got enough to supply the whole of the Indian sub-continent! I'm afraid the idea of vegging out in front of the box for a few days catching up on episodes of X-Factor and Apprentice may have to go on hold until we come back! Ok maybe one or two shows.....but seriously, your feet won't have much time to touch the ground. Your itinerary so far as follows: Saturday - home, have shower, wash hair, eat, make a start on the washing, see Cat, watch tv, Cat stays over. Sunday - lie in (hurrah!), lunch with Wendy, continue washing, put visa application together (VERY IMPORTANT!), early bed! Monday - walk Finn, dentist at 10.10, free time! Tuesday - Eliza 10-12.30, Mum, Holly, Jess leave pm. Wednesday - pack and look after Dad! Thursday - make sure you leave your room tidy for Barbara!(Also Caroline from the office will be staying in the house). If your visa doesn't arrive on Wednesday you may need to go collect it on Thursday on the way to the airport! If your visa doesn't arrive on Thursday you better start queuing at Sainsbury's for your Christmas turkey and sprouts because the fridge will be empty!!! Have a great wash up and if Tom hasn't kept his promise about the Twix I wouldn't like to be in his shoes when you see him! Lots and lots and lots of love, Mum xxxxx

Wat herlijk om weer iets te lezen over jullie ' missie' en om foto's te zien- al sta je er te weinig op naar mijn zin! Jullie zullen vast weer genieten van een bijzondere ervaring en het moet heerlijk zijn om mooi weer te hebben. Er staan foto's van andere groepen op de blog die diep door de modder aan het baggeren zijn- dat heb je mooi al gehad! Ben ook zo benieuwd hoe het is om bij een gastgezin te slapen...Nog iets meer dan twee weken en je kunt het me allemaal vertellen!
Dit weekend waren John, Maud en de kinderen even bij oma op zondagmiddag, we hebben een glaasje champagne gedronken voor ze weer naar Frankrijk gingen rijden. Ook zij hebben genoten van de mail die je hebt gestuurd, Max was op Google nog van alles gaan opzoeken over San Lucas, iedereen leeft mee. En de man met het gezwel die met je wilde trouwen heeft op Maudi veel indruk gemaakt...
Terwijl ik je zit te mailen komt Eugene weer 's tevoorschijn gekropen. hij eet en drinkt meer dan ooit. Ik heb net weer een zak voer gekocht en de man van de dierenzaak zei toch echt dat twee jaar wel het maximum is voor zo'n beest. Een tamelijk uniek geval heb je dus ooit gekregen; hij is er vast nog als je terug bent. je had toch grootse plannen voor hem samen met Felix? Haha.
Over onze huisdieren gesproken: in de Volkskrant van vanochtend las ik een berichtje over de verkiezing van de ' dikste kat van Nederland' en die weegt 10,3 kilo...Een lachertje vergeleken met Koe, die had alle andere deelnemers ver achter zich gelaten. Hierbij mag hij zich dus, zij het niet officieel, de dikste kat van Nederland noemen. We kunnen trots zijn!
Ben maar blij dat je het grootste deel van de maand december hier mist want het is een ramp...Koud, ijzel, sneeuw, ellenlange files en veel ongelukken; er is echt geen moer aan.Ik maak lange dagen en moet elke dag door die shit naar Diemen rijden. Ik vind het vreselijk!
Harda heeft inmiddels zijn buikje wel vol van de kostuumverkoop en wil niets liever dan...weer studeren! Hij heeft het zelfs over Geschiedenis studeren, en in februari beginnen. We zullen zien!
Lieverd, ik hoop je snel weer te spreken, denk niet dat jullie nog een keer bezoek krijgen op de plek waar je zit, dus dat je dit leest als je weer op de field base bent. Dan wordt het feesten, vijfsterren luxe en op naar huis...Dat zal wel weer een hele cultuurshock voor je zijn. Vind het een waardeloos idee dat je alleen reist op de terugweg en ben blij als ik weet dat je weer veilig op Schiphol staat.

Niestety Babci noga sie spieprzyla i musialam we wtorek pojechac do szpitala w Welwyn Garden City. Czekalismy 4 godziny ale sie doczekalismy. Babcia dostala zastrzyk z antybiotyku i wzieto posie, zeby zobaczyc jaka to bakteria. Codziennie rano przed praca jezdze z nia do szpitala na zastrzyk. W pracy jestem okolo 12.00. Dobrze ze sa tak wyrozumiali i to toleruja. Jutro jade z Bacia takze do lekarza, ktory robil operacje , (na sprawdzenie i zczekowanie nogi). Jutro wraca tata do domu. Jestem troche przeziebiona ale to nic. Nie moge sie doczekac Twojego powrotu. Juz te ostatnie dni bardzo mi sie dluza. Mam nadzieje, ze wedroka po dzungli byla fajna i za bardzo sie nie zmeczylas. U nas zima i pada snieg. Za to w POlsce i generalnie w Europie snieg wali drzwiami i oknami. Czekam z utesknieniem, sciskam i caluje Mama + reszta ferajny

ReplyDeleteGreat to see pictures of you once more. It's a bit different from home with the sunny skies. We've finally got rid of the snow and it's above freezing at 7C today. You missed late night Christmas shopping yesterday. Colourful decorations this year and real reindeer! Lots of people were asking about you - you know how many folks we meet. Ed was demonstrating again this week - to no avail - fees are going up. There's so much we want to ask you about your experiences and hope you are OK. Still it won't be long till we see you. Some news from home - I passed my HLTA! I got my certificate on Friday.
I'm going to email UCL when I get home from work today to say you will be able to attend interview on 18th Jan. Hope that's ok, the email asked if you could let them know as soon as possible if you are able to attend.
We put our Christmas tree up yesterday, with the usual multi-coloured colour scheme!Your advent calendar is waiting for you, 19 chocolates to eat on one day when you get home!

Today it was my last day off before going to Portugal. I'm going friday morning. When you read this message probably you will be back to fieldbase and nearly back to England :D Can't wait and Can't believe im going to see you lol :P I dont know If you're going to sign in on msn next thursday, but if you do I'll be working all day :S I'll be on from 20:30, 21. Christmas will be great cause I'll be with my familyb but I'm starting to worry that I don't have any plans for New year's.

We are sending you this message from the middle of nowhere in Madagascar where we have also been hanging out with turtles! As well as lemurs, dolphins, chameleons etc. Loads of photos to show you when we get back. Had news of Winston yesterday (Alice was missing him on his birthday!) - he is having a great time and has apparently got a girlfriend!!!
