The Ngobe (or Guaymi) Indigenous people who live there are subsistence farmers who maintain the cultural traditions of their ancestors. Currently there is secondary school in the indigenous reserve built by Raleigh in 2006. Alpha 9 will be building a Comedor, or dining hall for the school so that school can gain funding from the government to provide free meals for the pupils. .

ReplyDeleteHi Richard 'Aunty' Honey says hello from the UK & glad to see that you are all having a great time & doing so well. Max sent the info to us so we could get an idea of your experience. Looks like a marvellous idea and cause - wish we had something like that here for us geriatrics - but it would probably be somewhere unpleasant - wet & cold! Good luck for the rest of the posting & we shall be keeping an eye out. All the best from Bev & the gang. PS How is the guitar playing going?

ReplyDeleteVanuit een koud Nederlandje genieten we van de dagelijkse bijgewerkte webblog van Raleigh.
Was vast even schrikken met de schorpioenen.Hier alles oke. Liefs mama.
Richie Hi
ReplyDeleteO'Gimmea and I are delighted to hear you are enjoying yourself and Costa Rica so much - that said, O'Gimmea has done nothing but pester me incessantly about not being able to go with you. I've explaiend that he is just a tad overweight for such an adventure, to which he muttered something like - I wasn't too heavy for him to take me to Bondi. He also said that since he's never been on a horse that travelling by horseback to Conte Burika La Carona was something he'd have enjoyed - I told him he's just far too short for horse riding and that he'd have to go side saddle which he'd find very uncomfortable and he'd probably lose his head. I also suggested that the food in Costa Rica might not be to his taste!! The 5 cent pieces are slowly mounting up in your absence -
Keep enjoying yourself, know you are missed
Judi and O'Gimmea
