Introducing X-ray! Phase Two project allocations...

Another month, another mission for Raleigh Expedition 10B! Welcome back everyone - hopefully you enjoyed our coverage of Phase One during February. After completing three weeks on Alpha group projects, the expedition headed back to Fieldbase for the weekend to scrub up, clean kit, swap stories of high adventure and hard work, and of course to find out where they'd be heading for the next phase. Yesterday, our intrepid teams set forth again into the unknown - bound for new challenges across Costa Rica and Nicaragua. To keep you on your toes, this time the Phase Two project groups of fifteen venturers (led by two/three Project Managers) are identified by the code names X-ray One to Ten. X-Ray One tackle the massive Corcovado Trek - Project Managers Su and Mike are joined by:
Benoit Grogan Avignon, Constance van Berckel, Daniela Flores Carpio, Helen Nuttall, James Lucas, Laura Forrest, Natalya Chapman, Nitin Rishi, Peter Crosbie, Richelle Stacer, Toby Morris, William Smyth-Osbourne and Yamuna Morton

X-Ray Two are heading north for the volcano-tastic Guanacaste Trek. PMs Nacho and Jude will be taking the following folk along with them:
Anna Dawson, Hugo Wood, James Forde, Jess M Gerry, Marijne Mak, Mark Ross, Max Milward, Neil Grant, Phoebe Walsh, Roisin McMillan, Sebas Leon and Suru Eruero

X-Ray Three will be hiking from Coast to Coast with trek leaders Tara and Richard - joining their quest are:
Bethany Watts, Bryony James, Daisy Wright, Daniel Willis, Fabián Ramirez, Hugh Cairns, Joe Talboys, Lai Yin Wong, Paulien Koppius, Phoebe Whitehouse, Samuel Becht and Sophia Carr-Gomm

X-Ray Four are bound for La Cangreja National Park with PMs Emma and Phil. The lucky folk heading into the jungle are:

X-Ray Five are beachward bound - Dave, Adri and Ruth are off to Camaronal with muscle-power provided by:

X-Ray Six is a new project for this phase - PMs Oscar and Jenny are off to Golfito to blaze new trails through this wildlife-rich region. Check back tomorrow for a full debrief on this exciting new venture. For Phase Two, Golfito jungle camp will be home for this fresh-faced team:

X-Ray Eight will be joining the on the bus - but jumping out at Miraflor Wildlife Reserve. The team will head to Cana Florida to construct a new community centre. Joining PMs Sophie, Alice and Simon will be:

X-Ray Nine are going way down south to the tropical haven of Conte Burika. Joining Vanessa, Sofi and Ben will be:

X-Ray Ten are also facing a fresh start - PMs JC, Ale and Heather and will be kicking off two new projects within the Miraflor reserve - full details on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the following folk are busy packing their bags to bus it up to the Land of Lakes and Volcanoes:

Back at Fieldbase in Turrialba, we've been busy spring-cleaning the camp after the two-day changeover, and giving ourselves a big pat on the back after a successful Phase One. Today it's business as usual: Driver Ashley is preparing the fleet of Bravo vehicles for a series of roadtrips to check in on all our projects and resupply the trekkers on their 20-day odysseys. Admin Annie is updating spreadsheets, Christine is counting the kitty, medic Joey is manning the radio, Ollie is preparing a slideshow and the lovely Laura is making us a Costa Rican supper of beans, tortilla and tang. I'm sitting with my laptop, wondering what the next three weeks have in store for us all. It's been amazing to have such fantastic guest bloggers contributing their stories from across the Alpha groups - and I'm sure X-ray updates will be equally as exciting. However, for the next few days while they settle in to X-ray life, you'll be getting a healthy dose of me...

Due to an unforeseen clash of names, my Raleigh comrades refer to me simply as Blogger and I'll be bringing you the choicest morsels from the daily radio reports, plus a few of my idle imaginings over Phase Two. I'll also be heading out with my trusty laptop and camera to visit some of our projects and collect news from the X-ray 'communications officers' - our guest bloggers. For you back home, do keep those comments coming - Bravo Three will be hitting the tarmac tomorrow bound for X-rays One, Two, Three, Six and Nine and will be delivering messages to your loved ones.

Without further ado, here's the story so far for Phase Two: all X-ray groups checked in this morning to report that they'd reached their project sites and are busy building jungle camps, setting up radios and meeting the communities and rangers who they'll be working alongside. Trekkers will have almost completed their first day on the trail and are currently cooking up their first camp supper. The adventure continues!
