The latest scoop from Zulus Five and SIx

Hot off the press: Zulu Five just supplied Fieldbase with the latest news from their turtle conservation project on Playa Camaronal...

Turtle time for Zulu Five

It's been a week since Zulu Five arrived at Camaronal and already we've got stuck in: trenches for new water pipes to the ranger station have been dug, and the team are currently erecting the main ceiling beam for the new hatchery. Free time has seen the group (and PM Rich in particular) pimping up our jungle camp and we also held a (non-alcoholic) cocktail-making competition. The group have already seen a rare Olive Ridley turtle and we're keeping our fingers crossed for more next week.

Photographer Alison will be stopping by the beach this weekend to snap the group in action - look out for some top turtle shots on the blog next week. Meanwhile, down on Costa Rica's southern coast, our path-building environmental project is also going rather well. Toby Morris gives us the low-down on the Zulu Six's progress in tropical Golfito:

After arriving at Golfito nature refuge, Zulu Six wasted no time in setting up their jungle camp - complete with bashers, fully-functioning toilet block and private waterfall. Once work on the disabled access path began, Zulu Six powered ahead, cutting through 900m of jungle in only two-and-a-half days. Dani's 20th birthday was celebrated in Raleigh-style - with energy bombs, pinatas and pin the tail on the iguana.

On the 28th we walked to a local watefall, and Playa Cacao to be treated to an idyllic beach and lots of sunshine on their day off.

With Nacho arriving as a late addition to the PM team, Zulu Six are carrying on improving the jungle path and trying, in vain, to waterproof their bashers agains the torrential rain.
